Introduction to the speaker: Bhatt, PhD, Senior Lecturer in the School of Social Sciences, Education and Social Work, Queen's University Belfast, Member of the Council of the Society for Research into Higher Education , Teaching in Higher Education Journal "Critical perspectives on teaching in the multilingual university "(Critical Perspectives on Teaching in the Multilingual University) "and guest editor of "Lies, Bullshit & Fake News" in Postdigital Science and Education journal; And managing editor of Taylor & Francis' top journal Teaching in Higher Education: Critical Perspectives. His research interests include writing, literacy, education, and contemporary digital epistemology. He has published one monographs, co-authored two, and currently chairs one Leverhulme research project, which aims to study the practice of cultural heritage literacy education in China.
Introduction to the lecture: This lecture will introduce students to the study of language and society, or "sociolinguistics", based on traditional concepts and methodologies. Dr. Bhatt will explore traditional and modern approaches to sociolinguistics in real world Settings, and how sociolinguistics supports the study of social and real world problems in which language interacts with society in complex and unpredictable ways.
