Introduction to Lecture:
This lecture will explore the following issues. First, When Korean learners translate Korean as a foreign language, Korean language is a second language. There is no competition between first language Korean translation and second language Korean translation. In fact the two are in a complementary relationship. Second, the development process of Korean translation research is shown step by step by exploring the form and status of Korean translation in the 20th century, changes in the foreign language usage environment in the 21st century, and key words of Korean usage environment in the 21st century. Third, the focus of Korean learners on Korean translation and their attitudes toward translation are seen through pointing out that Korean translation should focus on the switching between native and second language. Finally, translation is not restricted to bilingual speakers. Through the study of Korean as a foreign language and Korean translation, translation is explored and understood as a form of transformation between languages and a communication of content between cultures.
