From November 11, 2017 to November 12, 2017, sponsored by China Japanese Education Association, co-organized by JLT Advisory Board under the Ministry of Education, hosted by Jilin University, the annual conference of China Japanese Education Association in 2017 and the 35th anniversary of China Japanese Education Association were held in Jilin University. More than 200 experts and scholars in Japanese education and Japanese studies from nearly 170 universities attended the meeting.
Liu He, Director of Academic Affairs Department of Jilin University, Xiu Gang, Director of JLT Advisory Board under the Ministry of Education, Honorary President of China Japanese Education Association and former President of Tianjin Foreign Studies University, Zhou Yifu, President of China Japanese Education Association, Dean of College of Foreign Languages of Jilin University attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. The opening ceremony was chaired by Li Yunbo, Vice-President of China Japanese Education Association, and Dean of Graduate School of Tianjin Foreign Studies University. Tan Jinghua, President of China Association of Japanese Literature, former Vice-President of Shanghai International Studies University, Qiu Ming, Vice-President of the Beijing International Studies University, Song Xieyi, Vice-President of China Association of Japanese Literature, Vice-President of Dalian University attended the meeting.
After the opening ceremony, the 35th anniversary of China Japanese Education Association was held. On behalf of the Association, Zhou Yifu, President of China Japanese Education Association, Dean of College of Foreign Languages of Jilin University delivered a speech. Zhou Yifu briefly reviewed the development of China Japanese Education Association and said that it has made a long-term outstanding contribution to the development of Japanese education and to the improvement of Japanese studies, which has become a significant platform for Japanese teachers in Japanese teaching and academic exchanges. In future, it will play an even more prominent role in encouraging the growth of Japanese teachers in domestic universities and in promoting the development of Japanese studies in our country. In the anniversary, Pi Xigeng, Secretary-General of the Second Council of China Japanese Education Association, Professor of Shanghai International Studies University, Su Jiugao, Honorary President of China Japanese Education Association, President of the 6th Council, Xiu Gang, Honorary President of China Japanese Education Association, President of the 7th Council, Xu Yiping, Honorary President of China Japanese Education Association, President of the 8th Council, respectively made a retrospective speech. The conference also held the awarding ceremony of "China Japanese Education Lifetime Achievement Award" jointly evaluated by China Japanese Education Association and JLT Advisory Board under the Ministry of Education. Six scholars who made an important contribution to Japanese education in China won the award. At the meeting, the first "Association Award" namely, "Award for 2016 Academic Papers of Japanese Studies" was also presented at the ceremony, and six scholars respectively received first prize, second prize and third prize in fields such as "literature," "society and culture," "language and education". Chen Duoyou, Vice-President of China Japanese Education Association, Dean of Faculty of Asian Languages and Cultures of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies and Wu Yuxin, Vice-President of China Japanese Education Association, Dean of College of Japanese Culture and Economy of Xi'an International Studies University respectively presided over the ceremony and "Association Award" ceremony.
On the afternoon of the Sep.11th, during the session of the speech, Tan Jinghua, Professor of Shanghai International Studies University, President of China Association of Japanese Literature, gave a speech in the title of "Studies of Japanese Literature in a new era in China”, recalling the history of Japanese literature since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, and discussed the direction of Japanese Culture in the new era in China. Su Jiugao, Honorary President of China Japanese Education Association, Professor of Jilin University, made a speech in the title of "the track and feature of Japanese culture since the reform and opening up", making a detailed introduction to the development of Japanese culture since the reform and opening up, and conducted an in-depth thought about studies on Japanese culture in future. Xiu Gang, Director of JLT Advisory Board under the Ministry of Education, Honorary President of China Japanese Education Association and former President of Tianjin Foreign Studies University gave a speech of "the transformation and development of Japanese education in the new era in China", pointing out the necessity of Japanese teaching concept and mode reforming from the practical experience of curriculum design. Xu Yiping, Honorary President of China Japanese Education Association, Professor of Beijing Center for Japanese Studies at Beijing Foreign Studies University, reviewing the research history of Japanese linguistics in China in the title of "The Review and Prospect of Japanese Linguistics Research in China", pointed out that the research quality of Japanese linguistics has been increasing year by year in China. On the afternoon of 11th and the morning of the 12th, more than 70 experts and scholars read out their papers at 9 sub-sessions. On the evening of the 10th and the evening of the 11th, during the conference, the meetings of President, the Standing Council and sub-session President of China Japanese Education Association were also held respectively.
On the morning of the 12th, the closing ceremony of the conference held in Lecture Hall 500 of the College of Foreign Languages of Jilin University. The closing ceremony was chaired by Li Erxian, Vice-President of China Japanese Education Association and Vice-Dean of College of Foreign Languages of East China Normal University. At the closing ceremony, the conference announced the award and winners of excellent papers for young scholars and conducted the awarding ceremony. At the closing ceremony, Xiu Gang said that China Japanese Education Association will always walk at the forefront of Japanese education and studies in China. While making fruitful achievements, it is hoped to deepen the topics and implement the education reform and advance practice through this academic conference, continue to perform an important role in Japanese research and Japanese studies in China. Finally, President Zhou Yi declared the conference closed.
The success of this conference further enhanced the academic exchange in Japanese studies in domestic universities and had a positive impact on the development of academic communities in the future. Under the new situation that Japanese studies and Japanese education are confronted with new issues and new challenges in China, the success of this conference not only provides an important platform for conducting dialogues and exchanging ideas between the Japanese education community and related research fields in our country. It will join as an opportunity to promote the further development of Japanese studies and Japanese education in our country.
