On October 23, 2021, the 14th Yong Wang Cup Multilingual National Interpretation Competition came to a successful conclusion. After a fierce competition, Lv Ying, a postgraduate student majoring in Korean interpretation, won the third prize in the Korean consecutive interpretation group, achieved the best result in the history of the Korean department's participation. Lv Ying's instructor of this competition was Professor Wang Yanli from the Department of Korean Language.

The 14th Yong Wang Cup Multilingual National Interpretation Competition was jointly organized by Translators Association of China and Beijing International Studies University. This year's competition included 7 languages: Japanese, French, German, Russian, Korean, Spanish and Arabic, and also included 8 topics. The competition in each language was divided into three parts: preliminary round, semi-final and final. In mid-September, 194 contestants from 92 universities at home and abroad participated in the online preliminary round of the contest. After experts' evaluation, 114 contestants from 43 universities were qualified for the semi-final and the final round.

The contest covered various fields such as current affairs, economy, science and technology, and humanistic exchanges. In addition, in order to celebrate the centenary of the Communist Party of China, this year's competition added corresponding topics such as "Poverty Alleviation" and "The Centenary of the Party" to pay tribute to the founding of the Party by reviewing the great achievements made by the Communist Party of China in leading the Chinese nation from standing up, getting rich to becoming strong.

In the background of this year’s pandemic strategy of "preventing the coronavirus from spreading within the region or beyond", this competition continued and improved the online pattern firstly adopted last year. The competition was fair and impartial, and the whole process was broadcast live. The winners of the competition will be selected into the translation talent pool of China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration.
