On December 9th, the Colloquium on Retrospect and Prospect of College Korean Teaching in Jilin Province: Commemorating the 30th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Korea was held at Changchun Sci-Tech University. Instructed by the Sino-Korean Education Research Association of China and the Non-Common Language Teaching Advisory Board of Jilin Province, the colloquium was co-organized by Research Center for Sino-Korean Relations under the School of Foreign Studies of Jilin University and Changchun Sci-Tech University. Professor Zhang Meimei, President of the Jilin Society of Foreign Languages and Dean of the School of Foreign Studies of Jilin University, attended and addressed the colloquium.
The colloquium was hosted by Professor Quan Helv from the School of Foreign Studies, Jilin University. Directors of Korean Departments from 19 universities such as Jilin University, Yanbian University, and Changchun University of Science and Technology introduced their departments' development history and future visions online or offline. Promoting the exchanges and cooperation among the Korean Departments within Jilin Province, enhancing international development and research development, serving the needs of Jilin Province’s economic and social development, and other related topics were discussed in the colloquium.
At the end of the colloquium, Professor Quan Helv expressed gratitude to Changchun Sci-Tech University for its efforts and careful arrangements in organizing the colloquium, and extended appreciation to all the participants from different universities for sharing their experience in establishing and developing the Korean discipline. Professor Quan stressed the importance of this colloquium in terms of talent cultivation, scientific research, the establishment and development of Korean discipline, cultural inheritance and serving the needs of social development, etc., and called on more exchanges and cooperation after this colloquium in order to promote the high-quality development of the Korean education in Jilin Province.
This colloquium was the first academic event held by the Research Center for Sino-Korean Relations under the School of Foreign Studies of Jilin University since its establishment. In the future, the Research Centre will hold more academic events on Korean studies at a higher level to provide a platform for exchanges and cooperation among researchers on Sino-Korean relations in Jilin Province and even in China and South Korea.
