Speaker’s Biography: Dr. Larisa Manierko studies linguistics and she is the chair of the school of translation of Lomonosov Moscow State University.
Summary: Psycholinguistics takes language as a psychological phenomenon. Language is a symbol system of social communication with the purpose to acquire and preserve social knowledge. Language serves rich social functions, enlivening psychological development of modern linguistics due to the intercross with Psychological Sciences. The development of Russian linguistic psychology is not only closely related to the Western psycholinguistic school, but also rooted in the traditions of native Russian Linguistics and Psychology, the schools of Ivan Petrovich Pavlov and Lev Vygotsky, and other schools of Moscow Psychology of Language. Russian linguistic psychology has made great contributions to the development of Russian psycholinguistics.
