Introduction to the Lecture: What is the most direct way for Korean researchers, learners and even humanities researchers to communicate with the world for the sake of human happiness? Language and writing are the most basic communication tools for human beings, and also the most flexible tools for language researchers and learners. The ultimate goal of language and writing for the purpose of human happiness, that is, practical language and writing, is to solve problems. The language and writing for problem solving consists of the process of "problem finding - topic selection - composition - expansion". In this whole process, how to use the methodology learned from the research and study of Korean? This lecture will teach us how to look for the problems around us that we can approach with language, and learn about specific ways to write effectively and communicate with the world.
Speaker Bio: Han Chengyu, PhD from the Department of Korean Language and Literature at Seoul National University, is a professor and doctoral supervisor of Korean at Inha University, as well as a member of the Korean Committee of MBC. He has published more than 20 papers, including Pronunciation Education Plan for Korean Learners in the Chinese Community, and more than 10 volumes, including The Language of Korean Food. Among them, Research on Dialect was selected as an Excellent book by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and a recommended book for teenagers by KOCCA; The Language of Korean Food was rated as a best seller. Moreover, he won the Chosun Ilbo Writer's Award in 2016.
