Introduction to the Lecture: Nowadays translation has gone beyond the stage of word-to-word and sentence-to-sentence translation. A good translation should consider factors such as language, national culture and lifestyle. Direct translation without considering cultural differences will make the communication between the two sides get into difficulties, that is, the purpose of successful communication cannot be achieved. Based on their own experiences and various studies, scholars of pragmatic translation have suggested that today’s translators should delve into the concreteness of the interaction between translation and culture. Therefore, this lecture will focus on how to deal with the cultural differences in Chinese and Korean translation.
