Speaker Bio: Luo Jingzhu, L.D. from the Department of Korean Language and Literature at Chonnam National University, Professor of the Department of Korean Education of Teachers College at Chonnam National University, Emeritus Professor at Chonnam National University, Exchange Professor at Fudan University, Director of Institute of Korean Language and Literature at Chonnam National University, President of the Korean Federation of Folklore Academic Societies. He has published 112 papers including The Witchcraft Significance of Typical Festival Rituals, and 102 volumes of books including Research on Korean Mythology.
Introduction to the Lecture: This lecture will focus on the festival customs represented by etiquette, games and food, so as to help people better understand the Korean culture and the life style and thinking style of the Korean people. With the traditional social structure and cultural foundation pointing to a new direction, festival customs are also gradually changing. The lecture will also point out that it is necessary to have an in-depth understanding of Korean living culture while understanding the Korean representative festivals, traditional festival customs and their recent changes.
