On 16 April 2016, the top ten students selected from Jilin University, assisted by Lecturer Sun Zhuang from the College of Foreign Languages, attended the provincial contest held in Jilin Normal University in Siping City.
After one-day’s intense competition, four of the ten students from our university entered into the Northeastern Regional Contest. The provincial contest consisted of two rounds. The first is English to Chinese consecutive interpretation, that is, the contestants listen to an English audio text lasting about one and a half minutes and then interpret it into Chinese. The second round is Chinese to English consecutive interpretation. Luan Fangyuan, a student from the College of Economy, and Wang Congda, a student from the College of Public Health won the second prizes; Zou Yuan, a postgraduate from MIT of the College of Foreign Languages, and Wang Binghua, a student from the MTI of the College of Foreign Language Education won the third prizes.
They will attend the Northeastern Regional Contest and the top student of the regional contest will enter into the national contest held in Beijing.
