According to its founding purpose, the Japanese Studies Center of the College of Foreign Languages held research reports and seminars regarding three directions, including the study of modern Japanese literature and social thought, the study of Japanese linguistics, and the study of Sino-Japanese comparative literature and comparative culture on March 8, March 15, and March 18, respectively. The presenter reported on the recent research content and research progress, based on which the participants uttered pertinent opinions from different perspectives such as the feasibility and improvement of the research topic. The collective in-depth communication has greatly inspired the presenters, who have adjusted and broadened their research ideas, and further clarified their research directions afterwards. The participants also learned about the characteristics of research in other fields, realizing the necessity of integrated comprehension in research and placing it under the macro-framework of "Japanese Studies".

The content presented at the conference involved multiple fields of Japanese studies, showing how recent work of the Center develops, and hinting at the potential and possibilities of the future research. It is hoped that since the inception of this series of seminars, the Center can give full play to the role of a research platform in order to deepen the scientific research exchange mechanism of Japanese teachers and postgraduates, and thus enhance the overall scientific research capabilities.
