Cuban Ambassador to China, Carlos Miguel Pereira, visited the School of Foreign Studies and Gave a Keynote Lecture to Teachers and Students of the Spanish Department

On the afternoon of March 30, 2021, Carlos Miguel Pereira, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to China, heading a delegation of six members from the Embassy of Cuba, visited the School of Foreign Studies of Jilin University. Mr. Pereira delivered a fascinating keynote lecture to teachers and students of the Spanish Department.

The lecture was presided over by Zhang Rui, Vice Dean of the School of Foreign Studies. Huang Lihua, Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Jilin Provincial People's Government, Zhang Guangcui, Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office of Jilin University, and Juan Alberto Kelly Paras, Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Embassy of Cuba in China and other Cuban guests attended the lecture. More than 150 teachers and students of the Spanish Department listened to the lecture. Mr. Pereira introduced Cuba to the faculty and students from the aspects of geography, education, health care and economic and social development, and focused on the development of the friendly relations between Cuba and China. His lecture greatly arose the students' interest in the national conditions of Latin American countries and in learning Spanish.

After the lecture, Liu Changsong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Foreign Studies and Zhang Meimei, Dean of the School of Foreign Studies, together with other leading members of the School of Foreign Studies, met with Ambassador Pereira and took a group photo together.
